Eczema-Friendly Skincare

Skincare formulated by
an eczema sufferer

For eczema-prone skin that has been let down by every other brand. No synthetic fragrance. No sulphates. No mineral oils. Just native Australian botanicals that genuinely calm, repair, and strengthen sensitive skin.

"I spent years trying every skincare brand on the market for my eczema. Most of them made it worse. The ones that didn't were too expensive to sustain, or discontinued. So I went back to the science and built something from scratch."

— Terrence Curwen-King, Founder & Formulator · Bliss Forte AU · Bacchus Marsh, VIC

The journey

Terrence has lived with eczema his whole life. Dry, reactive, easily triggered skin that flared at the slightest provocation. After trying countless mainstream products — from pharmacy brands to luxury skincare — he kept hitting the same wall: temporary relief, followed by a flare.

The solution

He spent two years researching native Australian botanicals and their clinically studied anti-inflammatory properties before developing the first Bliss Forte AU formulas — built from the ground up for eczema-prone and sensitive skin, without any of the common triggers.

Why most skincare fails eczema skin

Eczema skin has a compromised skin barrier. That means ingredients that are "fine" for most people can be genuinely harmful for you. Here are the common culprits that trigger flares — and that you will never find in any Bliss Forte AU formula.

Synthetic Fragrance

The number one cause of contact dermatitis in eczema sufferers. 'Fragrance' on a label can hide dozens of individual sensitising chemicals. We use only pure essential oil blends, clearly declared on the label.

Sulphates (SLS/SLES)

Harsh detergents that strip away the natural oils your eczema-prone skin desperately needs. They destroy your skin barrier every time you cleanse. Our cleansers use gentle coconut-derived surfactants instead.

Parabens

Chemical preservatives linked to skin sensitisation. Easily replaced with natural alternatives like Radish Root Ferment, which is what we use across our range.

Mineral Oils & Petrolatum

Petroleum-derived occlusives that sit on the skin surface, can trap moisture but also trap bacteria, and block the absorption of beneficial botanicals. We use Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter instead — biologically similar to skin's own lipids.

Alcohol Denat.

Drying, irritating, and directly damaging to the skin barrier. Often listed in toners and serums as a penetration enhancer. Absolutely not in our range.

Artificial Dyes & Colourants

No functional benefit, and a common cause of sensitisation. Our products use only the natural colour of their botanical ingredients.

What actually works for eczema-prone skin

Australia is home to some of the world's most potent anti-inflammatory, barrier-repairing botanicals. Many have been used medicinally for thousands of years by First Nations Australians. Here's what we use — and why it works.

Barrier Repair + Antioxidant

Lilly Pilli

Syzygium Luehmannii

Native to Eastern Australia, Lilly Pilli fruit contains exceptionally high levels of natural Vitamin C — far higher than most imported botanicals. Vitamin C is essential for collagen synthesis and skin barrier repair. For eczema-prone skin, a stronger, more resilient barrier means fewer flares. Lilly Pilli is also a powerful antioxidant that protects against the environmental triggers that can set off eczema episodes.

Barrier Mimicry + Deep Moisture

Jojoba Oil

Simmondsia Chinensis

Technically a liquid wax, not an oil — which is why Jojoba is so uniquely suited to eczema skin. Its molecular structure is remarkably similar to human sebum, meaning it absorbs deeply without clogging pores or sitting on the surface. For eczema, this means genuine barrier nourishment rather than just surface occlusion. It also carries anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce the redness and itch associated with mild eczema flares.

Anti-Inflammatory + Gentle Exfoliation

White Willow Bark

Salix Alba

The natural source of salicylic acid, White Willow Bark contains salicin — which the skin converts to salicylic acid locally. This gives you the pore-clearing, anti-inflammatory benefits of a BHA without the harsh, synthetic extraction process. For eczema-prone skin that also deals with blemishes (a common comorbidity), White Willow Bark provides targeted relief without disrupting the skin barrier the way synthetic salicylic acid can.

Soothing + Rapid Hydration

Aloe Vera

Aloe Barbadensis

One of the most clinically studied plants for skin inflammation, Aloe Vera contains acemannan — a compound shown to accelerate wound healing and reduce inflammatory cytokines. For eczema-affected skin, this means faster recovery from flares, reduced redness, and immediate cooling comfort. Our Aloe Vera is grown in Australia and used as the primary base in several of our formulas, not just as a minor add-in.

Antimicrobial + Antioxidant Protection

Lemon Myrtle

Backhousia Citriodora

From Queensland's subtropical rainforests, Lemon Myrtle has one of the highest concentrations of citral of any plant — giving it exceptional antimicrobial properties. For eczema skin, which is more susceptible to secondary bacterial and fungal infections, Lemon Myrtle provides a natural protective barrier against the microbes that can turn mild eczema into a serious flare.

How to build an eczema skincare routine

Consistency is everything for eczema skin. A simple, trigger-free routine applied every morning and evening is far more effective than an elaborate one that gets abandoned. Here's how to start.

1
Cleanse gently AM + PM

Use the Brightening Enzyme Cleanser with lukewarm water — not hot. Hot water strips the oils your eczema skin needs. Massage in for 30 seconds, rinse gently, pat (don't rub) dry.

TIP

Avoid exfoliating cleansers on flare days. Save exfoliation for calm skin periods only.

2
Mist and tone AM + PM

Mist the Anti-Blemish Toning Mist from 20cm away onto damp skin. The Aloe Vera base provides an immediate soothing hit. White Willow Bark begins calming pore congestion without irritation.

TIP

On very reactive days, skip this step and go straight to serum.

3
Layer your serum AM + PM

While skin is still slightly damp, press 3–4 drops of Hyaluronic Acid Serum into your face and neck. Damp application enhances HA's ability to draw water into the skin rather than out of it.

TIP

HA on fully dry skin in a dry environment can pull moisture out of your skin. Always apply to damp skin.

4
Seal with moisturiser AM + PM

Finish with the Luxe Glow Moisturiser. A pea-sized amount is enough — this formula is rich but fast-absorbing. This final step seals everything in and forms a protective barrier for the day.

TIP

Apply within 60 seconds of your serum while skin is still receptive. This is the most important step for eczema skin.

5
Gently exfoliate 2–3× week (calm skin only)

When your skin is in a calm period (no active flares), use the Cream Exfoliant 2–3 times per week to gently remove dead skin cells that can trigger secondary infection in eczema-prone skin.

TIP

Never exfoliate broken, inflamed, or actively flaring skin. Wait until the flare has fully subsided.

6
Intensive mask treatment 1–2× week

Apply the Hydrating Gel Mask as a 15-minute wash-off or overnight leave-on treatment. The Hyaluronic Acid and Aloe Vera combination delivers a week's worth of targeted hydration therapy.

TIP

Perfect for the night before a known trigger event (weather change, travel, stress) when you want to pre-strengthen your barrier.

What is eczema — and why does skincare matter so much?

Eczema (atopic dermatitis) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition affecting approximately 1 in 3 Australians at some point in their lives. It is characterised by a deficiency in the skin's barrier function — specifically, reduced production of filaggrin, a protein that holds skin cells together and maintains the protective outer layer.

When this barrier is compromised, two things happen: moisture escapes (transepidermal water loss, or TEWL), and allergens, bacteria, and irritants enter. This creates the classic eczema cycle: dry skin becomes itchy, scratching damages the barrier further, which allows more irritants in, which causes more inflammation.

The role of skincare in managing eczema is therefore not cosmetic — it is functional. The right products can support the skin barrier, reduce TEWL, provide anti-inflammatory relief, and break the itch-scratch cycle. The wrong products — those containing the triggers listed above — actively worsen the condition.

Natural vs. prescription eczema treatment: what's the difference?

Topical corticosteroids (prescribed for acute eczema flares) are highly effective for short-term symptom management — they reduce inflammation quickly. But they are not designed for long-term use and do not address the root cause: a compromised skin barrier.

Natural skincare for eczema, done properly, works at the preventive and maintenance level. By consistently strengthening the barrier, reducing inflammatory triggers in the environment, and providing the nutrients the skin needs to repair itself, a well-formulated natural routine can significantly reduce flare frequency and severity over time.

This is not either/or. Bliss Forte AU products are designed to work alongside medical treatment where needed. Always consult your dermatologist or GP for acute flares — but consider natural, trigger-free skincare as the daily foundation that supports everything else.

Important Note

Bliss Forte AU products are cosmetic skincare formulations and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition including eczema. If you have a diagnosed skin condition, always consult your dermatologist before introducing new skincare products. Our formulas are designed to minimise common irritants and support skin health, but individual responses to any skincare product vary.

What sensitive skin customers say

"Absolutely love this! It leaves my face feeling and looking young and poreless. I suffer with bigger pores and this has helped tighten the skin especially on my cheeks!"

"I struggled with uneven skin tone and dry patches. This enzyme cleanser gently exfoliates, brightens, and leaves my face so smooth. Love the effective, natural formula and fast, friendly support!"

"One of the best smelling moisturisers that doesn't feel like a mask. Very happy."

"My skin used to be so oily by midday. Since using this toner morning and night I've noticed a huge difference in shine and my pores look smaller."

Eczema and skincare — your questions

Is Bliss Forte AU safe for eczema-prone skin?

Yes. All Bliss Forte AU products are formulated without the most common eczema triggers: synthetic fragrance, sulphates (SLS/SLES), parabens, mineral oils, alcohol denat., and artificial colourants. Our formulas use plant-derived and naturally preserved ingredients throughout. As with any new skincare, we recommend patch testing on a small area first.

Can I use these products if I'm currently having a flare?

During an active flare, we recommend keeping your routine minimal — cleanse, moisturise, and let the skin recover. Avoid the Cream Exfoliant and limit the Toning Mist on broken or very raw skin. The Hyaluronic Acid Serum and Luxe Glow Moisturiser are generally well-tolerated even during mild flares. Always consult your dermatologist for severe flares.

Are these products tested for sensitive and eczema-prone skin?

All Bliss Forte AU products are dermatologist tested. They are formulated with the specific concerns of sensitive and eczema-prone skin in mind, avoiding all common sensitising ingredients. The entire range is free from common contact allergens and irritants.

What's the difference between eczema and sensitive skin?

Sensitive skin is a broad term for skin that reacts easily to environmental or chemical triggers — redness, itching, tightness. Eczema (atopic dermatitis) is a clinical condition with a genetic component involving a specific barrier deficiency. Both benefit from gentle, trigger-free skincare, and all Bliss Forte AU products are designed to support both.

How long until I see results?

Most customers with eczema-prone skin notice improvements in hydration and comfort within the first 1–2 weeks. Reduced flare frequency typically develops over 4–8 weeks of consistent use as the skin barrier strengthens. Our 60-Day Guarantee exists because we know real results take time — and we back that with a full refund if you're not satisfied.
